Origin
Red bell peppers, also known as sweet peppers or capsicum annuum, are believed to have originated in Central and South America. They were cultivated by indigenous peoples for thousands of years before being introduced to Europe by Christopher Columbus during his voyages in the late 15th century. From there, red bell peppers spread to other parts of the world through trade and exploration. Today, they are grown in many countries, including Spain, Mexico, the United States, China, and Turkey.
