Origin
Spinach is believed to have originated in ancient Persia, which is present-day Iran. It was then introduced to neighboring countries such as China and India. From there, spinach spread to the Mediterranean region and was cultivated by the ancient Greeks and Romans. It eventually made its way to Europe during the Middle Ages and was grown in monasteries and gardens. Today, fresh spinach is widely grown and consumed around the world.
