Origin
Celery is believed to have originated in the Mediterranean region, specifically in the marshy areas of the eastern Mediterranean. It has been cultivated for thousands of years and was highly valued for its medicinal properties in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome. The wild ancestor of cultivated celery is thought to be Apium graveolens, which is still found growing in parts of Europe and Asia. Celery was later introduced to other parts of the world through trade and exploration. Today, it is grown in many countries across the globe, including the United States, China, India, and France.
