Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until soft. Then, add ground beef and cook until browned.
Add the marinara sauce to the cooked beef mixture. Stir well to combine, bringing to a simmer. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
In a separate bowl, combine ricotta cheese with an egg, and season with salt and pepper. Mix well until smooth.
In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until just al dente. Drain and set aside.
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce. Layer with lasagna noodles, followed by a layer of ricotta mixture, then mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of meat sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on top.
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Then, remove the foil and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
Let the lasagna rest for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving. This allows the layers to set and makes it easier to cut.
