Origin
Chicken wings are a popular ingredient in many cuisines, but they are believed to have originated in the United States. The exact origin of chicken wings as a food item is often attributed to the city of Buffalo, New York. It is said that in the 1960s, the Anchor Bar in Buffalo created the Buffalo-style chicken wings as a response to a late-night snack request from a group of hungry customers. The wings were deep-fried, tossed in a spicy sauce, and served with celery and blue cheese dressing. From there, the popularity of chicken wings spread throughout the United States and eventually became a popular food item worldwide.
