Origin
Coffee beans are believed to have originated in Ethiopia, where the Coffea plant was first discovered. The story goes that a goat herder named Kaldi noticed his goats becoming energetic and restless after consuming the red berries from a particular plant. Curious, he tried the berries himself and experienced a similar burst of energy. Word of this discovery spread, and the cultivation and consumption of coffee began in the region.\n\nFrom Ethiopia, the cultivation of coffee spread to the Arabian Peninsula, particularly Yemen, where it became popular among Sufi monks for its stimulating effects. Coffee houses, known as qahwa, started to emerge, serving as gathering places for socializing and intellectual discussions.\n\nDuring the 15th and 16th centuries, coffee made its way to the Ottoman Empire, where it gained immense popularity.
